My Holy Grails

Hi family. Everybody has holy grail products, whether it’s skincare or makeup. Those products you repurchase over and over; the mascara you’ll always come back to after trying a new one, or the lipstick you automatically reach for when you don’t know what one to wear. I have plenty of holy grails, and today I’m going to share some of my go-to, will-never-replace-with-anything-else makeup products.

Lancome Tient Idole Ultra Long Wear Foundation ($56): I have nothing but good things to say about this bad boy. I don’t often opt for a full-coverage foundation, but when I do, it will always be this one. I think the main reason I love this product so much is because the oil-free, lightweight formula masks everything (it can cover up the mistakes you made last weekend at the bar) but it still looks remarkably like skin. A velvet-matte finish leaves you shine-free but not chalky or dry looking. The coolest part? NAI pigments prevent oxidization, meaning the colour you see is the colour you get all day long.

MAC Face and Body foundation ($34-45): As I said, I don’t usually wear anything with too much coverage, simply because I often opt for more natural makeup. Face and Body foundation is something I think I’ll be buried with when I die. This sheer-coverage foundation offers just enough coverage to cancel out redness and discolouration, but allows freckles to peek through. The water-based formula feels like nothing on the skin and gives a healthy, glowing finish.

NARS radiant creamy concealer ($37): I’ve tried almost every concealer that Sephora carries, and nothing will replace NARS. This concealer is exactly what the name suggests; the radiant and creamy formula immediately brightens, conceals, and reflects light to camouflage dark circles.

Benefit Hoola Cream-to-Powder Quickie Contour Stick ($38): Contouring and bronzing is made easy with this contour stick. I am typically weary about stick contouring products because of their tendency to wipe away makeup when applied, but this product changed my views on cream contouring forever. *Psst* try applying the product directly to a Sephora #55 brush and then stippling onto the face for a more natural, diffused bronzed look.

MILK MAKEUP Lip and Cheek stick ($29): Another cream product that changed my life forever. This multipurpose cream blush and lip colour offers a borderline gel-consistency that applies to the cheeks or lips effortlessly without moving any makeup underneath. On the cheeks, the product looks glowy and soft and on the lips it looks subtle and natural. The colour is buildable, and mango butter, peach nectar, and avocado oil absorb into the skin to maintain the colour and moisture.

Sephora Collection Retractable Brow Pencil ($16): I think I’ve gone through about 5 of these pencils and I always have one (…or two) backups in my drawer. My issue with most other brow pencils is the texture is either too chalky or too gel-like, and because of that, the pigment is either nonexistent or too harsh for a natural brow. The Sephora brow pencil is a perfect balance; it offers precision because of the fine tip, and just enough pigment for the eyebrow area (there is nothing worse than having to scrape the skin to get colour, or touching the skin with the lightest hand and looking like you went in with a black sharpie). This product pairs perfectly with the MAC Clear Brow Set ($21) which is a clear brow gel to set the brow hairs in place all day long.

Makeup Geek Signature Eyeshadows ($6 each): For the price of these individual eyeshadows, the formula is everything. They are full pigment and easily blendable, and they come in just about every colour you could ever ask for.

MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick ($22): Anyone who knows me knows my go-to lipstick is MAC Velvet Teddy. This matte nude looks good on every skin tone. And when I say every skin tone, I mean every skin tone (trust me, I’ve experimented). The non-drying formula feels comfortable on the lips – something that is rare in a matte lipstick. It lasts all day, needing minimal touch-ups and is complimentary to both natural and bold makeup looks.

MAC Prep and Prime Fix + spray ($30): I. Can’t. Do. My. Makeup. Without. Fix+. This product is everything I could ever dream of in a priming/setting spray and anyone who has ever heard me talk about it knows how much I love it. This product can be used under makeup to prep skin, in-between power products to act as a barrier, over top of a completed makeup look to set everything in place, or sprayed onto a brush to amplify eyeshadows and highlighters. I douse my skin in this when finishing my makeup to lock it in place, giving me an all-over glow and melting powders into the skin for the most flawless finish.

This was just a small handful of my holy-grail products. There are plenty more that were not mentioned, but if you are interested in some more let me know by commenting below! Also leave me a comment with your holy-grail products so that I can try them out. Who knows, maybe one of your holy-grails will replace one of mine!
Until next time,
